As a driver, you may not give a lot of thought to your brake pedal until it begins to have issues and needs repairs. You may start to notice the pedal begins to vibrate and shake every time it's in use, which can be distracting as you spend time driving. A burning smell is also common when the brake starts to vibrate.

In many cases, the car begins to swerve in a different direction instead of drive straight as you try to make the car come to a stop. This can cause you to unintentionally change lanes. The car may also take longer to slow down or stop. It can even require applying more pressure to the brake pedal to reduce your speed.

Many people also notice the pedal begins to feel spongy when they apply pressure. Instead, it should feel firm as you put your foot on it.
